Shoulder Pain

Many day-to-day activities can cause pain or injuries to the shoulder. Prolonged sitting at a computer, gardening, working out at the gym or a variety of different sports can all cause shoulder joint problems.

There are many different conditions that affect the shoulder joint, but one of the most common problems is impingement syndrome. This is commonly due to inflammation or arthritic changes in the shoulder joint where the rotator cuff tendons become pinched due to narrowing of the joint space.

Another common condition is bursitis. This is often due to repetitive overuse of the shoulder, causing inflammation of the bursa (fluid-filled sacs) around the shoulder that are present to provide cushioning. Muscle strains can also occur in the upper shoulder muscles, such as the upper trapezius or deltoid muscles, from falls, sporting injuries or accidents.

Any activity that uses repetitive overhead motions or sustained postures can result in inflammation of the muscle tendons and hence shoulder pain due to tendinitis.

Chiropractic care is very effective in the treatment of shoulder pain. During your initial consultation, I will perform a comprehensive history and thorough physical examination. I will also refer you for diagnostic imaging or laboratory testing if required. I will explain in detail what your presenting condition is and how I am going to help restore your health.

Treatment may involve a variety of different corrections, including chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, TMJ corrections, cranio-sacral therapy, meridian therapy, visceral (organ) therapy and emotional corrections. I may also prescribe stretching and strengthening exercises, and I may give you dietary and nutritional advice.

I will look at exactly what your body needs at that particular point in time, and I will work with you to make the necessary changes. This approach allows me to not only get results quickly, but also allows you to be the healthiest version of yourself.
